Laura Hedgecock is an author, storyteller, speaker, and GeneaBlogger obsessed with family history and passionate about helping others tell their personal and family stories. Maybe that’s because she came to family history via storytelling.
She’s the author of two books (so far).
Blogging for Family History: How to Launch a Blog and Make It Successful, guides family historians as they choose a website-building platform through making their blog or website shine. Memories of Me: A Complete Guide to Telling and Sharing the Stories of Your Life guides and empowers memory collectors and family storytellers with down-to-earth, practical storytelling advice and creative ideas for preserving and sharing personal and family stories.
A member of the Genealogical Speakers Guild, Mrs. Hedgecock enjoys speaking at workshops for retirees, local genealogy clubs and events, and on the radio, spreading the message that personal and family narratives connect loved ones with their family and ancestry. Ms. Hedgecock’s website TreasureChestofMemories.com is full of family history and storytelling resources and her blog (TreasureChestofMemories.com/blog) is all about preserving and sharing memories and stories. In addition, Ms. Hedgecock serves as a webmaster for various websites, is a co-founder and contributing blogger at TheRoadLessWritten.com, a writers’ exchange site, and frequently guest-posts at other genealogy sites. She has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Associated Press, and Chicago Tribune, Genealogy Gems, and DearMYRTLE. In addition to serving as one of the GeneabloggersTribe’s Transitional Leaders, Laura is also an officer in the Detroit Working Writers organization and her local Toastmaster’s club. When she’s not writing or playing webmaster, Ms. Hedgecock enjoys spending time with her husband, playing soccer, nature photography, and finding her roots—which might explain her messy house.
Greetings. I’m researching my Hawkins/Stinnet/Grisso family genealogy and noticed a post by Margie Toltsdorf about Grisso. Can you put me in touch with her. Thanks, Richard W Hawkins.
Sent you an email Richard.
Hello. I was a member of GeneaBloggers for many years. Then it became the Tribe. At first, I could not become a premium member no matter how much I tried. Finally, I have been able to join. However, my blog is not listed in the membership roll. Why? I have sent emails & there has been no response. Why? I thought GeneaBloggers Tribe’s mission was to help bloggers but I feel ignored. It was suggested to me that I contact you because you are “very nice & friendly”.

Colleen,
Yes, please reach out to us if something isn’t working! We want to get it right.
I see you on the membership list. The last list was missing your premium description, but we have it now.
I’m going to have Carol, our membership chair email you so we can make sure that everything is working right and that you are a satisfied customer.
Laura
Do you want to receive an announcement about FamilySearch GEDCOM Version 7 which has been worked on for 18 months with the community and just got finished a 10 days ago?
We’re working on getting our GeneaPress activities back up. We aren’t quite ready, but we’d be interested in reading your announcement. You can send it to hello at Geneabloggers.com.
