Elizabeth O’Neal is a professional genealogist who writes, lectures, and consults on a variety of topics. Her passion is using technology and social media to enrich the experience of genealogy research and family history storytelling. She has been researching her own family history for more than three decades and is the owner of Swan Genealogy Services.
Elizabeth is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists (APG), as well as the Genealogical Speakers Guild, where she serves on the board as secretary. She is an active member of the public speaking club Toastmasters International.
Additionally, Elizabeth serves as the 1st Vice President, Programs, for the Santa Barbara County Genealogical Society. She is the webmaster for the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS), the Southern California Chapter APG, and the Second Life Virtual Genealogical Society, where she also serves as president. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the United States Daughters of 1812, and several other lineage societies.
A blogger for more than 12 years, Elizabeth writes the family history blog Heart of the Family™ where she hosts the monthly Genealogy Blog Party. She is a regular contributor to many online genealogy publications.
When not hunting for ancestors, Elizabeth enjoys spending time with her husband, also an avid genealogist, and their descendant, who has no interest in family history whatsoever.
