Today, we are celebrating a double blogiversary! Lisa S. Gorrell, CG launched Mam-ma’s Southern Family on 15 January 2011, which makes today her 14th blogiversary.
Although retired since 2010, Lisa is a busy lady, as she is a member of the California Genealogical Society, Contra Costa County Genealogical Society, Sacramento German Genealogy Society, Sonoma County Genealogical Society. Texas State Genealogical Society, Kinseekers, heritage Seekers, Utah Genealogical Association National Genealogical Society and the Association of Professional Genealogists.
Lisa is a lifetime Californian who began blogging after taking a class at the California Genealogical Society, decided she needed a place to tell the stories of her ancestors. Mam-ma’s Southern Family is about the ancestors of her maternal grandmother, Pansy Louis Lancaster, who married Tom J. Johnston. The family called her Mam-ma (pronounced at Ma’am-ma) due to her deep Southern roots. Pansy was born in Texas, but her family hailed from Arkansas, Missouri, Kentucky, Mississippi and North & South Carolina.
Lisa also writes a second blog, My Trails into the Past, to share the rest of her children’s ancestry.
Here are three posts that Lisa would like to share:
- Far from Loveless: William H. & Jo Hazel Loveless Celebrate 50 Years
- Locating Supporting Documentation about a Proposed Texas Bill in 1893
- Using the Attendees at Lela Ann (Loveless) Lancaster’s Funeral to Discover Residences
In addition to all her other genealogy activities, Lisa is one of the founders of the Applied Genealogy Institute and teaches some of the courses.
