Your privacy matters.
We want you to understand when we collect data from you and why. In a nutshell, any data collected by GeneaBloggersTRIBE.com is used either to provide services requested by you or to maintain a functional website.
We do not sell or rent your personally identifiable data. We do not use your data to target advertising.
Data Collected to Perform Services Requested by You
Your personally-identifiable information is used to respond to inquiries sent via our contact, “add my site,” or blogiversary forms; maintain our GeneaBloggersTRIBE membership roll (online and offline); create spotlight posts; or contact you in the case of problems with your site.
Our online Membership Roll contains your site name, link, and tags you have submitted. Site owners’ personal information is NOT listed online. The offline membership roll and blogiversary information is only accessible to our administrators and blogiversary team and is stored behind secure passwords.
Site owners can ask at any time to have their membership and personal data deleted from GeneaBloggersTRIBE files, both online and offline.
Third Party Services Used by GeneaBloggersTRIBE.com
If you do not wish to have cookies stored on your machine, you have the option to turn cookies off in your browser. However, keep in mind that turning off cookies may impact how this website functions.
We use Akismet spam-checking service (owned by Automattic), which uses your information for the sole purpose of spam checking. Akismet reviews data submitted via our forms and comment threads.
We use Google Analytics to view anonymized information about site visitors to better understand how visitors use our site and which pages and posts they enjoy. You can opt out of Google tracking via our pop-up or by using a browser extension.
GeneaBloggersTRIBE.com uses Jetpack Comments (owned by Automattic) to enable discussion about posts. Jetpack requests your name, email, and URL for spam-checking purposes.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
Those users who are logged into a WordPress.com (owned by Automattic) account can register likes on comments. WordPress.com uses information from your account to execute this action. If you are logged into a WordPress.com account with an attached Gravatar profile (Gravatar is also owned by Automattic), your Gravatar image will appear beside comments you submit.
Liking and Sharing Posts
As with comment likes, if you are logged into a WordPress.com, account information from that account is used to register a like on a post.
GeneaBloggersTRIBE.com uses a service called Monarch (owned by Elegant Themes) to allow users to share posts via email and social media. This service collects data from users for the sole purpose of executing the desired sharing action.
Blog Subscription via Email
Your information is collected to initiate and process subscriptions if you click on the “Subscribe to this blog via email” in a sidebar link.
Keeping Your Data Secure
GeneaBloggersTRIBE takes the security of your personal information seriously. Only the site administrators can access your information. In addition, we use backups and technologies such as secure socket layer (SSL), encryption, WordFence firewall, threat defense feed, and malware scanner, as well as secure passwords to safeguard information.
