Jenny Hawran – Social Media Coordinator
We’re so happy to have Jenny Hawran join the GeneaBloggers admin team to help us out with our social media channels. She’s got her work cut out for us, but luckily she’s up for the challenge.
Jenny Hawran is a professional genealogical researcher and educator who specializes in Connecticut research and social media genealogy. She holds a B.S. in Journalism and is certified in webpage development.
Jenny is honored to be currently serving as the President of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists. She loves helping beginning genealogy enthusiasts, especially. Volunteering in the genealogy community has become a bit of a part-time job in itself, but one that Jenny truly enjoys. She is the current Secretary of the Descendants of the Founders of Ancient Windsor, Volunteer Information Specialist for the Abigail Wolcott Ellsworth Chapter of the Daughters of the Revolution in Windsor, Connecticut, and past Marketing Chair for the 2019 Federation of Genealogical Societies Conference.
You’ll find Jenny participating in all formats of social media, always eager to learn new technology. She is an avid micro-blogger on Twitter and Instagram and chronicles her genealogy journey in her blog, Like-Herding-Cats.com, which she began writing in June of 2015. During daylight hours, she is Executive Director of Windsor Community Television in Connecticut. When she is not chasing ancestors, Jenny is obsessed with classic Hollywood movies and watches them on TCM whenever she can, and she loves to spend time with her family and two cats.

Welcome, Jenny. As social media coordinator will you be teaching us genealogy bloggers how to get out blogs out to more readers? I would enjoy learning how to improve my contact with readers.
Thank you! Yes, that’s a wonderful idea, Colleen. I’m going to post in the GB group to hear what kinds of things people are looking to do with their blogs and what help they need.
Jenny
I will look forward to that.
