Happy Blogiversary GraphicNancy E. Loe, MA MLS has been blogging at Sassy Jane Genealogy since 2010.  Nancy was raised outside of Chicago and now she lives on the beautiful Central Coast of California.  She is a member of Society of American Archivists, Society of California Archivists, Association of Professional Genealogists, Genealogical Speakers Guild, National Genealogical Society, Virtual Genealogical Society, and numerous regional and local societies. Nancy says, “Genealogy was my first love and my first professional library job. When I retired from my career in academic archives, I started the blog as a way of continuing to help researchers. I also wanted to document my own family research. Now, between the blog, ebooks, newsletter, presentations, and client research, it looks like my blog unretired me!”

Some surnames of interest to Nancy include: Loe, Hann/Hahn, Andersdotter/Anderson, Anderdatter/Anderson, Ross, Kirschstein, Larsdotter/Larsson, Mutch, Schumann, Schenk, Will, Braun, and Linde.

When asked the purpose of her blog, Nancy wrote the following “Sassy Jane Genealogy is written from my perspective as a librarian and archivist. I post about effective ways to cite, organize, and care for research records and family papers. I also post about finding and using specific resources for European genealogy research.  I also share my triumphs and mistakes doing my own family research in Norway, Sweden, Austria, Prussia, and Scotland. I’m documenting the trips I’m taking (my “genealogy pilgrimage”) to all eight of my immigrant great-grandparents’ villages in those countries. And since I’m asked this a lot: the name Sassy Jane comes from 1920s newspaper ads for “rayon frocks,” combining my love of genealogy and everything vintage. “
