Susan Donaldson has been blogging at Family History Fun since 2010. She grew up in Poulton-le-Fylde, Lancashire, England but has lived in Scotland for nearly 60 years. She now resides in the Scottish Borders.
The purpose of her blog is to show her enthusiasm for family history and to convey the pleasure she has gotten from this all-absorbing hobby. She shares family stories that she has unearthed during her research and she highlights Scottish resources. She has been able to make contact with third cousins as a result of her blog.
She writes, that she was “first introduced to blogging by my workplace who set up a blog which I contributed to. I had always had an interest in journalism and had written short pieces for my local press and liked the style of writing that a blog offered me. I was further encouraged by a magazine article for “the thinking, mature woman” – and the result was my blog.”
Susan regularly uses the “52 Ancestors in 52 Days” and “Sepia Saturday” prompts. She also manages and writes the blog for her local heritage group – Auld Earlston.
Susan is interested in the following surnames: Danson, Rawcliffe, English, Mason, Oldham, Smith, Weston, Matthews, Donaldson, White, Hawkyard, and Moffet.
