Happy Blogiversary GraphicLiv Taylor-Harris has been blogging at Claiming Kin Genealogy since 2011.  She is a native Texan and Houstonian.  She is a member of the Texas State Genealogical Society, Afro-American Historical and Genealogical Society – Houston Chapter, and Texas State Historical Association.  Liv is a contributing writer in the new HANDBOOK OF HOUSTON that was launched on March 2, 2017 by the Texas State Historical Society and The Houston History Alliance. Liv started blogging to preserve her family’s history for future generations.  She writes the purpose of her blog is to “share my research process and have future generations of my family know that slavery is not a shame on us; our ancestors were some of the most creative and enduring people.”  Some surnames that she is researching include: Taylor, Chapple, Newsom, Smith, Moten, Blanton, Green, Bailey, Routt, Allen, and Perry.
