2019 is going to bring exciting changes, and we hope all of you will be part of them!
We’re Officially Official (Almost)
As many of you know, in July 2017 the GeneaBloggers website and assets were transitioned to new administration under the name “GeneaBloggersTRIBE.” Since that time, the group has been managed by a team of amazing and dedicated of volunteers with the common goal of creating a support system and learning environment for genealogy content providers.
We’ve made a few big steps, moving forward with our goal of obtaining nonprofit status.
On May 30, 2018, we held an official organizing meeting, at which officers and a board of directors were elected. In December 2018, a set of bylaws were ratified by the board of directors.
Back to our Roots
The name “GeneaBloggersTRIBE” was originally intended to be used transitionally, to distinguish the new group as it hands from its former management.
Now that the transitional period has passed, the board decided that the time is right for us to return to our “roots.” We’ll revert back to “GeneaBloggers” name; however, but we still plan to operate as a tribe, supporting and learning from each other.
Taking it to a New Level
Our vision for the organization is to extend our platform of support. Much like a genealogical society, we will offer a premium, “contributing” membership category, which will come with a slate of benefits such as training webinars, product discounts, and other opportunities offered by our partner vendors.
A free, basic membership category will still be offered, and all current members will be “grandfathered in” at this level.
