Dec 28, 1732. The Pennsylvania Gazette carried the first knownadvertisement for the first issue of Poor Richards Almanack by Richard Saunders (Benjamin Franklin) for the year 1733. The advertisement promised many pleasant and witty verses, jests and sayings. . . new fashions, gamesfor kisses. . . men and melons. . . breakfast in bed, &c. Americas mostfamous almanac, Poor Richards was published through the year 1758 and has been imitated many times since.
