Aug 30, 1797. English novelist Mary Shelley, daughter of philosopher William Godwin and feminist Mary Wollstonecraft and wife of poet Percy Bysshe Shelley, was born at London, England, and died there Feb 1, 1851. In addition to being the author of the famous novel Frankenstein, Shelley is important in literary history for her work in the editing and publishing of her husbands unpublished work after his early death.
