Anniversary of the Liberation of Buchenwald Concentration CampOn 11 April 1945, Buchenwald, north of Weimar, Germany, was entered by Allied troops. It was the first of the Nazi concentration camps to be liberated. It had been established in 1937, and about 56,000 people died there.
