June 27, 1880. Born at Tuscumbia, AL, Helen Keller was left deaf and blind by a disease she contracted at 18 months of age. With the help of her teacher, Anne Sullivan, Keller graduated from college and had acareer as an author and lecturer. She died June 1, 1968, at Westport, CT.
