Koster Bials Music Hall was also the first movie theatre houseOn 23 April 1896, the first movie was shown at Koster and Bials Music Hall at New York City. Up until this time, people saw films individually by looking into a kinetoscope, a boxlike “peep show.” This was the first time in the US that an audience sat in a theater and watched a movie together.
