Aug 15, 1887. Edna Ferber was born at Kalamazoo, MI. She wrote her first novel, Dawn OHara, in 1911 and became a prolific writer, producing many popular magazine stories. Her novel So Big brought her commercial success in 1924 as well as a Pulitzer Prize. Her other novels include Show Boat, Cimarron, Saratoga Trunk, Giant and Ice Palace, all of which were made into successful films. Ferber collaborated with George Kaufman inwriting for the stage on The Royal Family, Dinner at Eight, Stage Door and Bravo. Ferber died at New York, NY, Apr 16, 1968.
