You can backup your blog posts to your Evernote account. It is a “set it and forget about it” kind of deal, using an IFTTT applet connected to your Evernote account. If you don’t know what Evernote is, go to Evernote.com, and there is also more information on my blog Our Life Picture by Picture.
Once you create an account on IFTTT, and you have an Evernote account set up, go to IFTTT and log in. Click on “My Applets” and then on the “Services” tab.
You can filter the services offered, or you can scroll through the alphabetical list. Find “Blogger” and click on it, and it will bring up the applets that others have created. If you cannot find the “Blogger to Evernote” applet, you can create your own. Creating the Applet is easy; just follow the step-by-step instructions that are provided on IFTTT.
Pictured above are my Blogger applets. The second one is the Blogger to Evernote applet.
The applet is set so that any time there is a new blog post on my blog the blog post will be sent to Evernote with all of the content in the Evernote note and a link to the original blog post. The other Blogger applets will add an event to my Google Calendar, with the blog post title. Anytime there is a new blog post, a tweet is created and sent out on Twitter. and a link is posted to my Facebook timeline.
Once these are set up, you don’t have to do anything else. I periodically check my Posted notebook in Evernote to make sure that the applet is working. The image below is a post from my blog that was automatically backed up to my Evernote account.
Have you used IFTTT to make your life a little easier? If you have any questions, please contact me, and I will help you out the best that I can. Happy Blogging!!

IFTTT is such an underutilized resource. Thank you for sharing this great tip, Shannon! 🙂
I use IFTTT for many automated actions. One I have set up posts my Instagram posts with a specific hashtag to a draft on my self hosted WordPress blog. Or save to Dropbox any Facebook images when someone tags me. What about sync Instagram posts to a Pinterest board? And loads more.
Hi Fran! Those are some great uses for IFTTT. Another favorite of mine takes any post I make to Instagram and creates an Evernote note and saves it to my time line notebook. This notebook includes any photos I am tagged in on Facebook also. It is a lot of fun looking through this notebook and seeing what I did and when I did it since the notes are sorted by date.
You learn something new everyday. Thanks so much for this Shannon. I had never heard of IFTTT til today.
