She ought to know, since she lives as she says “in Appalachia in southwest Virginia, the land beyond Roanoke, as have many of my ancestors since the 1750s or even further back if we go the Native route.” We depend on people like Denise to share the long-standing traditions of a place when we don’t live where our ancestors once lived. While reviewing intriguing Denise’s blog, I discovered:
- A link to the ‘virtual Jamestown John Smith’s Map’ in her post “A Place Called Wolf Creek Indian Village Part 4.”
- “Mama’s Appalachian Corn Bread Recipe”. Denise says “Sharing this recipe means it will survive.”
- “Where was the Cabin of Thomas and Jenny Wiley in Bland County?…” where Denise says “It’s real fuzzy the boundaries of these land company claims because on one had actually surveyed the entire lot.”
