GeneaBloggers on Vacation September 16-23, 2012

Wholly Genes 8th Annual Genealogy Conference and Cruise

GeneaBloggers will be cruising the Inner Passage of Alaska on the Wholly Genes Conference and Cruise the week of September 16-23, 2012.

Blog posts for the Daily Blogging Beat and other features have been scheduled to post during the week on a normal schedule. There will be no New Genealogy Blogs post on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The New Genealogy Blogs series will return on Saturday, September 29, 2012.

Finally, responses to emails and tagging of posts might be delayed due to a lack of Internet connection during the cruise.

Remembering 9/11 on September 11, 2012

911 aftermath

For most of us here in the United States, today we’ll be surrounded with news and other media marking the 11th anniversary of September 11, 2001.

Many genealogy bloggers will also choose to remember the events of that day with a post on their blogs.  9/11 was one of those important historic events which your children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will ask about one day.  If you haven’t already done so, take a few moments to record how you recall that day.

We’ll carry links to the posts from GeneaBloggers blog members here:

Memorial Day 2012

decoration day

Here in the United States, today is Memorial Day also known as Decoration Day (that’s what I grew up calling it).  It is a day set aside to honor those men and women who died while in the military service.

Many members of GeneaBloggers have posted moving and heart-felt tributes to those family members and ancestors who not only died in service but also served their country.  Please take a moment to read the stories of these men and women who have kept us free.
