A Day To Remember Veterans 2013

in flanders field

Today, November 11th, is when many pause to remember the service that men and women in the armed forces have provided in the service of their country.  Here in the United States the day is marked as Veterans Day and serves to thank those who served.  In other countries such as Canada, the UK, and others the day is known as Remembrance Day in honor of those who fought and died in service to their countries.

Take a moment today not only to reflect about your ancestors and living relatives who gave their service in the armed forces, but consider posting their stories at your genealogy blog.

Memorial Day 2013

Memorial Day 2013

Here in the United States, today,May 27, 2013, is Memorial Day also known as Decoration Day (that’s what I grew up calling it).  It is a day set aside to honor those men and women who died while in the military service.

Many members of GeneaBloggers have posted moving and heart-felt tributes to those family members and ancestors who not only died in service but also served their country.  Please take a moment to read the stories of these men and women who have kept us free.
