Some of you may have noticed that in each Genealogy Blogging Beat we now feature national holidays and some of the more offbeat holidays. Here are some dates next week to look out for so you can plan your blog posts for next week:

  • April 12: Attack on Ft. Sumter anniversary, National Licorice Day, and Polio Vaccine anniversary.
  • April 13: Alfred M. Butts’ birthday, Thomas Jefferson’s birthday, and the Premiere of Handel’s Messiah.
  • April 14: First Dictionary of American English Published, International Moment of Laughter Day, Assassination of Abraham Lincoln, and National Library Week begins.
  • April 15: Boston Marathon, First McDonald’s Opens, Income Tax Day (US), Patriot’s Day (MA ME US), and the Sinking of the Titanic anniversary.
  • April 16: Charlie Chaplin’s birthday.
  • April 17: Ellis Island Family History Day and National Haiku Poetry Day.
  • April 18: National High Five Day and Anniversary of the Great San Francisco Earthquake.
  • April 19: Battle of Lexington and Concord, Oklahoma City Bombing Anniversary, and Anniversary of Warsaw Ghetto Uprising.
