GeneaBloggers Events June 14 – 20, 2009

Here is a list of events, memes and goings-on in the world of geneablogging and what’s happening in the coming week:

Genealogy Blog Carnivals

Entries for the 74th Edition of the Carnival of Genealogy are due on Monday 15 June 2009. Remember that this is the Annual Swimsuit Edition so blog about those stunning swim wear fashions worn by your family or your ancestors!

The 2nd Edition of A Festival of Postcards with the theme “Main Street” is accepting entries through Saturday 20 June 2009.

Wondering how to participate in a blog carnival? Check out this post from Facebook Bootcamp for GeneaBloggers.

Geneabloggers Group on Facebook

We’ve grown to 569 members with the addition of eight new people since my last posting! Check out Genea-Bloggers group listing on Facebook. If you know anyone who blogs about their genealogy or family history and you think they might benefit from membership in Geneabloggers please let me know and send me their email info!

Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt

Check out Weekly Genealogy Blogging Prompt #24: Week #24: Document a genealogy event with photos and share in your blog. Show others how much fun your local luncheon can be, or how your genealogy field trip turned into a landslide of books. Don’t forget to get permission before posting photos of others.

Thanks to Amy Coffin at We Tree for the inspiration!

Geneabloggers Calendar

Remember we have Black Sheep Sunday, Madness Monday, Tombstone Tuesday and Wordless Wednesday as regular ongoing memes! And don’t forget to check out other upcoming events at the new Geneabloggers Calendar. This is the same Google calendar that has been in existence for quite some time. And if you subscribe to the calendar you’ll receive email reminders of events.

About Thomas MacEntee

What happens when a “tech guy” with a love for history gets laid off during The Great Recession of 2008? You get Thomas MacEntee, a genealogy professional who’s also a blogger, educator, author, social media connector, online community builder and more. Thomas was laid off after a 25-year career in the information technology field, so he started his own genealogy-related business called High Definition Genealogy. He also created an online community of over 3,000 family history bloggers known as GeneaBloggers. His most recent endeavor, Hack Genealogy, is an attempt to “re-purpose today’s technology for tomorrow’s genealogy.” Thomas describes himself as a lifelong learner with a background in a multitude of topics who has finally figured out what he does best: teach, inspire, instigate, and serve as a curator and go-to-guy for concept nurturing and inspiration. Thomas is a big believer in success, and that we all succeed when we help each other find success.
