Back in Oct 2011 I received a comment email from my personal genealogy website. I’d probably met this cousin before at a funeral but our age difference meant we didn’t really interact.

She was asking for insight into a few of our Louisiana family members and eventually share over 100 original photos with me along with stories and histories. She recently visited with my mother while traveling in AZ.

While researching one of her lines for her I connected with a Wisconsonite working contract in Afghanistan. This gentleman and I were able to move the original cousin’s line all the way back to Asch, Bohemia 1832.

That was one of my better cousin-connections.

What a great topic! I recently was researching a cousin who is/was a Brigadeer General in the US Army, pretty rare for a women too! I decided to search the internet for a biography and picture to add to my family history database. When I did the search, I discovered that she was coming to Wisconsin to speak (she is from D.C) at the Veteran’s hospital in just two weeks! I couldn’t believe it – I thought the date had to be wrong…but it wasn’t. So I made it to the speaking event and afterwards was able to meet and talk with her. It was terribly exciting. She also brought her niece who was another cousin of mine. As luck would have it – they invited me out to lunch with them and we talked for many hours. I was completely thrilled. I heard stories that I hadn’t heard before. All of those times I regretted not asking my grandmother about her family, it was like I finally was able to have some of those questions answered. That’s why meeting cousins is the best!!
