Congrats to GeneaBloggers Elyse Doerflinger and A.C. Ivory

Family Tree Magazine

Congratulation to Elyse Doerflinger of Elyse’s Genealogy Blog and A.C. Ivory of the Find My Ancestor blog for their interviews in a recent article at Family Tree Magazine.

Entitled Closing the Generation Gap, the article interviewed several up-and-coming genealogists between the ages of 13 and 26.  Both Elyse and A.C. had their pictures featured as part of the interview and offered great insights on what it is like to be way below the age demographic in the genealogy field.

Disney Gets in on Genealogy with My Family Tree Series

disney channel

It appears that the Disney Channel has been taping for a new show entitled “My Family Tree” which hopes to combine geography and genealogy by having children from around the world report on their ancestors and family roots.

The series is set to premiere in November 2010 and one of the first episodes will depict Elbridge Gerry, a signer of the Declaration of Independence and the fifth Vice President of the United States as reported by one of his descendants, 12-year old Noah Gerry.

Stay tuned, as they say, because this may be just the first in a variety of media offerings for children that involve genealogy.

sentimental sunday

Don’t forget that today is Sentimental Sunday. If you have your own genealogy or family history related blog, you can participate in Sentimental Sunday. What is it?

Sentimental Sunday is a daily blogging theme used by many genealogy bloggers to help them post content on their sites.

To participate in Sentimental Sunday, simply create a post in which you discuss a sentimental story or memory about an ancestor, or maybe even a family tradition that touches you.

A special thanks to Renate Sanders of Into the Light for suggesting Sentimental Sunday as a daily blogging theme!
